For years, Coach Robb Perry has shown up for the kids of South St. Pete every Wednesday evening at Campbell Park, offering free tennis lessons through Sowing Seeds Tennis Academy. No fees. No barriers. Just love, mentorship, and opportunity.

Every week, these kids—our kids—learn discipline, teamwork, and confidence on the courts. They show up excited to learn a sport that’s not often accessible in neighborhoods like ours. But y

esterday, something happened that should never happen in a city that prides itself on inclusion and community.

A "new" resident, reportedly made hateful and racially charged remarks about the children—saying there were “no white kids” and calling the players “future murderers, thugs, and gang bangers.” He even went so far as to say that next week, he plans to bring “his friends and his people” to “take back his sport.”

Let that sink in.

These children—who have done nothing but show up with joy and courage—were targeted by ignorance and hate. It’s heartbreaking, it’s unacceptable, and it’s not who we are as a community.

Now, the question is: Who’s going to stand up for these kids?

📅 Join Us in Solidarity

We’re calling on our community—parents, neighbors, coaches, and everyone who believes in supporting safe spaces for our Children—to stand with these kids and show up in peace and unity:

🗓 Wednesday, October 29th🕠 5:30 PM

📍 Campbell Park Tennis Courts - 601 14th Street South, St. Pete.

Let’s make it clear that these courts belong to love, not hate. Let’s make sure our children see that their city stands behind them.
